David M. Rubenstein—author of The American Story, the visionary co-founder of The Carlyle Group, and host of Bloomberg TV’s The David Rubenstein Show—has long been fascinated with leadership.
What makes a great leader? Are leaders born or are they made? Does extraordinary leadership arise from personality, mental or physical skills, or the simple good fortune of being in the right place at the right time?
For the past five years, Rubenstein has conducted behind-the-scenes conversations with some of the highest performing leaders from the worlds of finance, tech, entertainment, sports, and government. Now, these conversations are distilled into an essential leadership playbook for our times: HOW TO LEAD: Wisdom from the World’s Greatest CEOs, Founders, and Game Changers.

I love Gary and his insight and all, but when you have a guy like David Rubenstein on it’s time to pass the torch to him and let us hear some of his 71 years of insight.
Definitely the hardest part of Gary’s otherwise incredible interviewing style
Gary – you rock! Been following you since 2016, didn’t go to college so I could follow my passion, and at 21 now have a 6 figure turnover on a business based around my passion!
I am thinking about a new type of restaurants : eating-spots,
in eating-spots, food keeps changing, chefs also rotate,
this is opposed to current restaurants,
thanks to this rotation of food and chefs, eating-spots are way more powerful than restaurants,
along with that, there is an app,
people vote for the food that will be cooked in the next days
menu is influenced by the live input of the people via an app
@Dana L Scott Thank you!
@Devin Sheridan All things based around growing food, so YouTube, courses books etc 🙂
You go guy!
@Devin Sheridan probably something with gardening looking at his YT
Interested in buying David’s book now. It sounds like he’s taken a lot of time to really study leadership. His book kind of reminds me of a variation of “Think and Grow Rich”. Looking forward to reading it. Thanks for posting this interview, Gary!
Gary! Gary!! Gary!!! My go to for inspiration, you’re truly amazing and how you motivate people and make people believe in themselves, You’ve highly moved me to continue releasing consistent content to my audience 💪💪💪💪
Love the enthusiasm in this comment! All I need is a 30 second clip of gary talking and i’m pumped for the day!
One of the best interviews I have watched! So much valuable content in this. Motivation levels at an all time high!
Really loving this content lately. The interviews contain so much information and insight. Thanks Garyvee!
Gary changed my mindset during lockdown back in March and I cannot be more grateful 🙏💕
Damn, Gary. I would have liked to hear him complete more of his answers – still insightful!
There’s never enough time hey? Gary also has a knack for finishing people’s thoughts too.
I learned from a different video that Gary interrupts people because he knows what they are already thinking and wants to move the pace forward without wasting time. His show & his power to do so 😁💯

I wanted David to finish Civil War Story
Agree! Let the interviewee finish their thoughts.
Thank you for this Gary, really enjoyed it! I didn’t really have time to watch all of it but i did anyway! Interesting to hear that humility is common amongst great leaders – that’s what i’ll be taking away with me and keeping in mind. Thanks again mate 🙂
After a successful investment, you have nothing to worry about whether rise or fall of the economy or anything won’t affect you, make your future brighter by making good investment.

@SUCCESS CHASERS
Alright I’m glad thanks I will have to text him
I feel Gary learned something from David. There were a few hidden gems in there that most people probably missed. Great interview
I’ve been on a huge leadership kick lately.
I just finished the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership.
Leadership is the answer!
*I have a HUGE respect to all hustling entrepreneurs* ❤️🙏
Not sure if I can hustle like Gary, but not everyone is born like that. U need to just know what’s important to u 😊
much love bro, you’re been a true life upgrader, not just for me but, for literally 10’s if not hundreds of thousands of people, continue rising & rising !
Great podcast, loved the inaight and the line of questioning. Going to buy the book today.
Awesome video gary. You’re an inspiration to me and many others. Currently building a youtube channel around a niche I truly love. Keep it up!
Love this conversation with a seasoned leader. Such wealth of insights and experience. ♥️😃♥️😃
You’re G, you motivate me to share my story and grow my brand. From Canada, I’m First Nations and breaking cycles in my family and for my people. Snow shovelling everyday, I hope to be in a position to inspire my nieces & nephews. Learning leader, thank you helping me on my path.
This is a such inspirational interview and enjoy so much with the kindness and humility with openness. In today’s world, we need more this type of sharing with facts, research, interaction rather than over the top of exaggeration. There are just too much information, and I am so happy that Gary has invited the author of the book “how to lead” (note: I am also surprise as Gary about this title is available for a book publish).
One of the most impactful sharing from the video. (which I have re-listen several times)
(1) Author’s quick definition of what leadership is >> best leaders have failed and overcame. They recognize the lucky and know not too brilliant on themselves. They are willing to share credit, motivate others and have humility. They have integrity, and other people want to follow because great role model they are.
(2) Gary’s sharing on: candor is kindness.
big thank you for doing this interview!!
